Shi Menegat

Shi (they/them, she/her) is an artist, producer, and researcher. A non-binary trans person, Shi’s research is informed by an interest in bodily experimentation, spanning cinema, theater, performance, literature, and music. Shi holds a Master’s degree in Semiotics and Communication Cultures and a Bachelor’s degree in Social Communication from UFRGS. They won acting awards for their debut as the lead in the film “Tinta Bruta” (2018) at the Rio de Janeiro International Film Festival (2018), the Guarani Brazilian Film Award (2019), and the For Rainbow Festival (2018). They participated in the soap opera “Elas por Elas” (2023), on Rede Globo, and recently starred in the film “O Mensageiro” (2024), by Lucia Murat. Shi is now working on the script and direction of their first feature film and is also in production on their debut music album.
