Beatriz Bracher is a partner and curator at Supersônica. She was born in São Paulo in 1961. She has a degree in literature and was one of the editors of the literature and philosophy magazine 34 Letras. She was also one of the founders of Editora 34. In 2019, she founded Chão Editora, where she serves as an editorial advisor. She published her first novel, Azul e dura, in 2002 through publisher 7Letras. Editora 34 reissued the novel in 2010. Bracher’s other works include the novels Não Falei (2004), Antonio (2007), and Anatomia do Paraíso (2015); and the short story collections Meu Amor (2009) and Garimpo (2013). All of these works were published by Editora 34. Bracher co-wrote the screenplay for the film Cronicamente Inviável (Chronically Unfeasible, 2000) with Sérgio Bianchi and the script for the feature film Os Inquilinos (The Tenants, 2009). The latter won the award for Best Screenplay at the 2009 Rio Film Festival. She wrote the screenplay for Karim Aïnouz’s film O Abismo Prateado (The Silver Cliff, 2011) with him. Meu Amor received the Clarice Lispector Award from the National Library Foundation as the best short story collection of 2009. Garimpo won the APCA Award in the Short Stories/Chronicles category in 2013 and received an honorable mention in the Casa de las Américas Awards in Cuba in 2015. Her novel Anatomia do Paraíso (Anatomy of Paradise, 2015) won the Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo Literature Awards in 2016. Her most recent novel, Guerra ― I (Editora 34), published in 2025, was a semifinalist for the Jabuti Award, a finalist for the São Paulo Literature Award, and a winner of the Machado de Assis Award.
