Synopsis

The last and longest short story in James Joyce’s Dubliners (1914), The Dead tells of Gabriel Conroy and his wife Gretta’s trip to a traditional Christmas party at Gabriel’s aunt’s house. Through the interactions between the guests, describing surprising details, Joyce portrays
middle-class life in the Irish capital at the beginning of the last century. After the party, the couple return to the hotel where they will stay the night, and a discovery by Gabriel about Gretta’s past makes him rethink his own life.

Genres

Caio Blat (São Paulo, 1980) made his acting career in many TV, cinema and theater productions, including several soap operas on Rede Globo and in the movie Bróder (2009), for which he received the award for Best Actor at the Gramado Festival. In theater, he acted in Grande Sertão: Veredas, directed by Bia Lessa, for which he received the Shell and APTR awards for Best Actor, among other plays. He has been a teacher and member of Grupo Nós do Morro (Rio de Janeiro) for 20 years.
