Synopsis
After being attacked by a bear at the base of a volcano in Siberia, where she was conducting research on the Even people, Nastassja Martin struggles to survive, while being admitted to hospitals in Russia and France. In this book, a mixture of ethnography and autobiography, the
French anthropologist reflects on this event in which, “a bear and a woman meet and the frontiers between the two worlds implode.”
